To Whom It May Concern

Please don’t judge my son T too harshly. He legitimately doesn’t understand a lot of things, and his mental health issues have been steadily spinning out of control. I’m fairly certain that he is in fact guilty of the crime he’s been accused of, but he doesn’t need jail. He needs help. He needs an intensive, long term mental health program. He needs to make sense of his past before he can focus on his present or future. He needs medications that help instead of just fog his brain.

Most of all, he needs all of the police officers, all of the caseworkers, all of the lawyers, and all of the judges to see him for what he is. He’s a profoundly damaged child and he needs something other than just punishment.
